How to be a Happy Person

Everyone wants to be happy, but some people seem to have an easier time of it. Whether it’s work, a person, or reading a good book that you enjoy, we all are in the pursuit of happiness. While happiness is different for everyone, there are a few things that you can do to become happier in your day-to-day life.

Be Healthy
A healthy body is a happy body and will make you feel good. A clean diet and regular exercise will work together to improve how you feel and how you think. It won’t take long for you to enjoy the benefits of a healthy, happy body – just a few weeks and you’ll feel great.

Eat right and watch your Sleep Schedule

When we get busy, it is easy to overlook our diet, so you need to ensure that your body is getting the right vitamins and minerals. In addition to eating well, try supplementing your diet with a multivitamin. Equally important is the amount of sleep you get each night. If you are getting enough sleep and still feel fatigued, talk with your doctor. Some over the counter solutions for fatigue exist, however.

Focus on the Positives
If you write down something positive that happened to you each day you’ll learn to focus on the good in your life instead of on the bad. This will also give you a great list to review when you are feeling down about yourself!

Even if you don’t feel like smiling, the act of it will cause your brain to release serotonin, which will automatically put you in a better mood. It may take calling a funny friend, watching a great movie, or just making yourself smile, but no matter how you get there you will feel better.

Make a Plan
It’s hard to be unhappy when you have something exciting to look forward to. Pick something that you can’t do everyday and add it to your calendar. Bonus points if you include a group of friends who you enjoy, but either way you’ll enjoy having something fun to look forward to.

Pick Your Friends Carefully
Look at the people you surround yourself with. If they are negative people who always seem down about their lives then those feelings will rub off on you. If, however, they are positive and happy, you will pick that up from them. Making sure to surround yourself with happy and positive people will go a long way to affecting your mood.

Be Quiet
It’s easy to feel negative when bombarded with sad news on the television and radio. Simply turning them off and allowing yourself some quiet time will do wonders for your mood. It’s nice to be informed, but not when that means you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Being happy doesn’t happen automatically. For a lot of people it is a choice, so make a good decision about the kind of day you want to have!
